How Can severe Flu Along With Ear Infection be Treated?

My 4 year old Granddaughter was diagnosed with the flu along with an ear infection - her ear ruptured with some blood leakage. She was taken to the ER. She was given ear drops at the ER. A Specialist checked her out the next day saying the rupture had healed but fluid and blood were blocked in. He put her on a nose drop and ear drops and set her up for a month appt. He also suggested maybe having to put tubes in the ears if the fluid does not desolve. She now, as she blows her nose is getting some show of blood. Is this blood coming from the ear canal? Is this a good or bad sign?? Would appreciate any information you can give me.

Hello Dear. Your grand daughter might be having infection of the middle ear which is called Chronic suppurative Otitis media (CSOM). There will be infection and fluid accumulation in the middle ear. Thats why your doctor has suggested to put tubes in the ear.

Simultaneously she might be having infection of the nose too. Or sometimes even sinusitis. That's the reason she is having some blood. She may be required to be treated with antibiotics and nasal drops. Kindly consult an ENT (Ear, nose, throat) specialist. Blood in the nose may not be due to ear. it may be because of infection in the nose only. But getting blood is not a good sign. But need not panic also. It may be just an infection. Consult your doctor. A course of antibiotics as suggested by your doctor may help.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
